Most-Asked Buyer Questions
How much does translation cost per word?
It depends on the language pair, content type, volume and service level, with rates from $0.03 per word. Every project still gets a written quote based on its scope before work starts. See the pricing page for service levels and what each includes.
Which languages do you translate?
We work in 60+ languages through a network of 100+ professional linguists. If your language pair is unusual, ask us and we will confirm availability in your quote.
Do you use AI or human translators?
Both. AI workflows produce a fast first draft where the content suits it, and professional linguists translate, edit and review every project. Human QA is always the final step before delivery.
Is proofreading included?
Yes. Every project includes translation, proofreading and QA for the price of proofreading alone, subject to project scope. Many providers charge for proofreading separately.
How fast can you deliver?
Our standard target is 24 to 48 hours for suitable projects. Timing depends on volume, complexity and language pair, and larger projects get a tailored schedule in the quote. Tell us your deadline and we will confirm before you commit.
Do you provide certified translations?
Yes, where your documents need them. Whether certification is required, and in what format, depends on the receiving authority, so we confirm availability and format per document and jurisdiction. No provider can guarantee universal acceptance, and we will not claim to.
Can you handle large-volume projects?
Yes. Large projects run on technology-assisted workflows with human review, so terminology and brand voice stay consistent across thousands of pages or strings. We agree a schedule based on volume and update frequency.
How do you assure translation quality?
Through a second linguist review, proofreading and a QA check against agreed criteria such as accuracy, terminology, fluency, consistency and locale rules. Software and UI work can add functional and in-context checks, and standalone linguistic quality assurance (LQA) is also available.
Is my content kept confidential?
Yes. All linguists are bound by strict NDAs, and client documents are handled securely and confidentially. If you have additional security requirements, we assess them per project.
Can you localize websites and software?
Yes. Our website and app localization and software UI translation services cover pages, apps and interface strings. Direct platform integrations, such as WordPress, Webflow or Shopify, and SEO localization are confirmed per project; otherwise we use file-based workflows.
Getting Started
What is the difference between translation and localization?
Translation converts text from one language to another. Localization goes further and adapts cultural references, layout, formats and user experience so the content feels native to each market. Most business content needs some of both.
Which industries benefit most from localization services?
Any industry where content must feel native or meet local rules. Our strongest experience is in technology and SaaS, finance, and healthcare and medical, and we also serve e-commerce, legal, gaming, education and travel.
Is localization worth the cost?
Yes, when the market matters to you. Content in a customer's own language and context builds trust, keeps visitors engaged and makes buying easier. Start with the pages and documents that drive revenue, then expand.
What do you need from me to prepare a quote?
Your file or text, the source and target languages, your deadline and any preferences such as certified translation, tone or formatting. Mention any glossary or style guide you already use.
Can I talk to someone before I commit?
Yes. A project manager can walk you through it on a free call of 15 to 30 minutes, covering your languages, content, timelines and workflow. There is no obligation to buy.
Do you work with small companies or only enterprises?
Both. We translate single documents for small teams and run multi-language programs for larger ones. The workflow and quality checks are the same either way.
Where are you based, and when can I reach you?
NexTranslate has offices in Wilmington, Delaware, and Chennai, India, and works with clients worldwide. Office hours are 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM IST, Monday to Friday.
Quality and Process
What is the difference between proofreading and QA?
Proofreading checks the translated text for errors in grammar, spelling, meaning and style. Quality assurance checks the whole file against agreed criteria, such as terminology, consistency, numbers, formatting and locale rules. We include both in every translation project.
Who reviews my translation?
A second linguist, never the person who translated it. Reviewers are chosen for their language proficiency and subject experience.
How do you keep brand voice consistent across languages?
With translation memory, glossaries and style guides. Translation memory reuses your approved translations, glossaries lock product and brand terms, and style guides set tone and voice for every language and every update.
What is machine translation post-editing (MTPE)?
MTPE means an AI engine produces the first draft and a human editor then reviews, corrects and refines it for accuracy and natural flow. It suits high-volume content where speed matters. See our MTPE service for details.
What happens if I am not happy with a translation?
Tell your project manager within 7 days of delivery and we will revise it. Each project includes one round of revisions, and refunds apply if the work was not delivered as agreed or has material quality issues.
Languages, Files and Services
What file formats do you support for localization?
Common formats include JSON, XML, XLIFF, YAML, YML, HTML and PO, plus Word, PDF, spreadsheets and presentations. We also handle Android and iOS resource files. The full list is on the Get a quote page.
Do you translate right-to-left languages such as Arabic?
Yes. We translate into right-to-left languages such as Arabic and check text direction, layout and formatting so websites, apps and documents display correctly. Our guide to RTL language support explains what to plan for.
Can you keep the formatting of my files?
Yes for most document and web formats. For complex layouts such as InDesign files, desktop publishing is available as an add-on.
Can you handle continuous or regular content updates?
Yes. Our multilingual content management service supports continuous localization, so help centers, product pages and documentation stay current in every language. Your glossary is applied to each update, and integrations with your team's tools are confirmed per platform.
Security and Billing
How do you protect sensitive files?
Every linguist works under an NDA, files are handled securely, and access is limited to the people on your project. Additional security requirements are assessed per project.
Will you sign our NDA?
Yes, at no cost. Every NexTranslate linguist already works under a non-disclosure agreement, and we can sign yours before you share files.
